This website
This site is operated by Simon Johnson trading as Amalgyte and hosted by Hostinger. We do not add advertising trackers, analytics tools, or marketing cookies to this website. Fonts and artwork are served from this site.
As with other websites, the hosting service receives technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested page and request time to deliver and protect the service. Hosting infrastructure may keep access and security logs for as long as reasonably needed to diagnose faults, prevent abuse or meet legal obligations. We use information only to provide, secure and support the website, and never sell it or use it for resale. Our lawful basis for these purposes is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable website and responding to enquiries.
Joining the beta interest list
The first recruitment round is for adults aged 18 or over. If you sign up, we collect your email address, chosen platforms and device models, plus the time of registration and the version of the consent wording you accepted. We do not ask for your date of birth, passwords or game recovery code.
With your consent, we use these details to organise the beta and contact you about invitations and testing updates for Blame the Button. They are not used for general marketing, sold or shared with other testers. Signing up does not create a game account, subscribe you to unrelated announcements or automatically enrol you in Apple or Google testing.
Registrations are stored privately in our Cloudflare-hosted service. The form sends your details to that service over HTTPS. Hostinger serves the page; Cloudflare processes the sign-up and may process technical request data to deliver and protect it. Our own rate-limit records use a keyed, hourly identifier rather than a raw IP address and are cleared after expiry. Neither provider is used to add advertising trackers to this page.
We delete interest-list entries after 90 days, with hourly cleanup. If you submit the same email again during that period, we keep the original entry and its original expiry. Any private working export follows the same expiry. Correspondence and any later participation in the game are covered separately in this notice and the game privacy notice.
You can withdraw consent, correct your details or request deletion at any time by emailing blamethebutton@amalgyte.co.uk from the address you registered. Withdrawing does not affect processing already carried out. Signing up is optional and access is subject to available places and platform approvals.
Invitations
A shared link can contain a referral code and a game-cycle identifier. The page reads these to show the invitation and construct a link to the installed game. Opening or copying a link does not create an account or award a coin. The website does not access your contacts or read your clipboard.
The code is visible in the link and can be forwarded. The page does not store it in browser storage. When you choose “Copy code”, only the displayed code is written to your clipboard. Your browser history and the hosting service may retain a visited URL.
Contacting us
If you email blamethebutton@amalgyte.co.uk, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to handle your enquiry. Do not send passwords, recovery codes or payment details. We retain correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry and meet applicable obligations.
The game, when you play
The current development game keeps your permanent identity, game activity, coins, collection, referral attribution and account recovery information. An optional location is entered by you; the game does not request GPS access. Optional analytics, crash reporting and notifications have separate controls.
Private background photos and their opacity setting stay on your device. You can choose a photo or voluntarily use the camera; background images are not uploaded. Creator button images are uploaded only when submitted for moderation, and approved community editions can become visible to other players.
Cloudflare operates the current game service and image storage, with Firebase supporting configured account and integrity services. Optional rewarded ads and store purchases require their own provider notices and choices when enabled. The game privacy notice identifies the publisher, providers, retention periods and player rights. Public downloads remain closed while release checks are completed.
Your choices and questions
You can browse without joining, ignore an invitation, and contact us about information you have sent. Test players can use the game’s Settings to export data or delete an account. You may request access, correction or deletion of your personal information, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights depend on the circumstances.
